I have seen some stories about bad lfs and other stories mine would have to be: waiting for 3.5 mounths to get in a simple retic stingray, a lfs that charges $50 for discus fry, and buying a $100 dollar tang that i was told would be fine with my other fish and um no it wasnt. So lets here yours the worse the better

there is this huge(fake) plant in the angelfish tank at my lfs, and one day when I was walking past, I noticed that the plant had uprooted itself, and floats up to the top of the tank along with some angels aswell. I see over half of the angelfish trapped in the plant, and several of them out of the water, and stuck on the plant. All of them were dead, except for 1 that was lucky enough to not get impailed by its spikey prickles.
i went to a store that had this one 55g display tank in really nasty condition. beautiful fish - rummynose tetras, nice cories, a SIX INCH gold nugget pleco. none of the fish were for sale. i checked. i asked one of the guys why it was looking so bad. apparently the top brace had broken and the front pane was bowing so much they were scared to touch it. (hmmm, so that's what all the duct tape is for. . . . ). i go back there a couple weeks later, tank is still up, still untouched, and the gold nugget is looking really sick behind a piece of wood. i go back after another couple weeks - tank is STILL THERE! the gold nugget is literally just a bunch of bare white dead fish bones still in the same spot behind the wood. this tank is less than 10 feet from the front counter inside a fish store with several empty tanks for sale, and they couldn't be bothered to clean out the broken tank, set up a new display tank for the fish in there, or simply take the fish out of there, put them in the sale tanks, and get rid of the tank completely. they just left it for weeks, killing a beautiful and potentially money-making fish in the process. i gave 'em hell when i saw that.

I had a 20 inch ck named Hank. I couldn't afford to buy his new tank due to family emergencies, so I made arrangements to bring him up to the Big Al's by my house to be put in their display tank (thing must have been 5000 gallons). When I went back to check on him the next day, I found him in a sale tank, nose half torn off, tail GONE, and looking half dead. 
I started bawling crying immediately. I took him home the next day, and unfortunately he didn't make it. 
What they did, was wait till closing time before they remembered they had him acclimating, dumped him in, turned off the lights, and left, without monitoring the other fish in the tank. Bastards.

Yeah, I cried for almost a week about it. Thanks. I've currently just gotten a gold ck, and another reg ck. I'm purchasing a 280 gal for them, if they fight, I have a friend that will take one.

wow bogus, i proly woulda round house kicked someone in the neck...
the only problem i have with my lfs's are that they dont know what the hell there fish are... its so annoying when i see jewels being sold as firemouths, pacu as pir's.... the funniest were tiny albino oscars in the mixed africans...
this one store has to hate me cuz i go there (almost everyother day on my way home from work) and tell them what to correct.
i should be on their payrole!
