The other day while at my lfs i was given two about 6" silver dollars that were in 20 gallon tank with a 6" jd. the owner gave them to me because the jd was beating them up and she didn't have the space for them. anyways i got them home and introduced them to my 125 and they have been greeted well. They really don't seem to be eating much and are kinda rough looking. just wondering if you all have any suggestions for there appetite and how to help nurse them back to full health

If you have a hospital tank its probably best to put them there for quarantine + healing. It's risky to dump new fish straight into your tank b/c you may introduce disease. Anyways, depending on the injuries there are different meds available (usually melafix or pimafix) and you can also add salt to the tank. Maybe some pics showing the damage will help peeps diagnose and allow suggestion on meds. good luck hope they do well.

Id say keep the water quality as best as possible. One thing that has worked in the past is blood worms. They are much like crack for fish I am yet to see a fish turn them down. Typically you get a response from one fish to eat and when the others see them feeding its in their nature to do so as well. If blood worms don't work for some reason you could try anything nice and smelly brine shrimp beef heart etc.. How long exactly have you had them ?
If their fins are torn up and they have bodily injury or wounds I would use some salt . If that does not work you could consider some mela / pima fix to help them heal (remember to have plenty of oxygen if you choose to use these meds they rob a bit of oxygen from the water so add an airstone if needed)

Best of luck.

my silver dollars love pellets. both drifting and sinking. either way they'll munch em all

i have lots of air going into my tank they have some missing scales and their fins are pretty torn up. I tried the normal tropical flacks and floating pellets which are what i feed my other fish as well as blood worms. they didnt seem to be all that interested i got them on tuesday so they might be a lil frazzeled from the move. i even tried to drop some peas in the tank in which all the other fish seemed to enjoy. they are both moving around the tank and exploring lots which is a plus. i have tried putting food in at diffrent spots to give them a chance with the other fish but they havent seemed to interested in the food.
