I'm not going to say where this store is in orange county because the location of the place isn't important.

what is important is that they are selling four 3-4 inch golden reds for 1400.00dollars a peice. they were even so brazen as to show me their "certs" for the fish.

now, i personally believe this makes it harder to get them approved to be sold legally in the states so i don't know whether to let fish and game know whats going on or if i should just stay away from their store for awhile.

what say my fellow monsterkeepers?

Well, first of all, if you wanted one, you just made the biggest mistake of your life - Announcing it.

Second, if you report it.... you will probably face higher prices at that store, so if you shop there.... obviously you would not want to report them. (The store would probably get huge fines, and the store would jack up their regular prices to help pay these fines.)

Legally, it's the right thing to do... it's a personal choice.

sure i want one, but i'm not at a point in my life where i can justify spending 1400.00 dollars on a fish even if it was legal.

i don't shop at this store very often. besides, i'm not sure how familiar you are with LFS in socal, but there are a ton of them, and if i decided tomorrow i wanted to buy an asian aro (from anywhere but the store i mentioned) all i would have to do is ask a few owners and could have one in a week.

its kinda like marijuana. its 100% illegal, but not hard to find at all if you ask the right people.

what did it say on the cert goldern red

3inch is to small to have a chip put in the fish they are normaly done at 5-6inch

i think it's great that som people have the balls to sell them there... if enough people have them and sell them they will be too many to keep a dumb law active...

so thank you LFS for beeing brave, and accept that they have to be expensive, so they whould be worth the risk...

i don't know the store you say but i lke it already....:D

and trust me if you could pay the price they ask for them, you whould thank them a lot.... it's expensive, or no asian aro;)

Whatever you deciede to do, at 3 inches the quality of the asian aro would be very difficult to determine.

Well you compared it to weed so I guess a comparable question is, would you call the cops on someone lighting up a blunt? Probably not, it's not hurting anyone (except maybe the kid's feelings who's on probation since he can't get in on the rotation). I highly doubt that anyone spending $1400.00 on a fish more specifically an Asian Arowana would one day potentialy consider dumping it into their lake after getting 'bored' of it as if they had the money for the fish, having an appropriate sized tank shouldn't be an issue. However, do what you feel is right but remember.. even if you thought reporting it was the right thing to do, it would still be snitching.

and nobody like a snitch....;)

Come on man, where do you think that misplaced righteousness is taking you? leave them be...it they were asking 100 for the aro, you would have bought it without a thought.. they want 1400 you talk about calling the police...analyze your real reasons, first, and what you gain for yourself...then do whatever..

The last time this subject came up, it became a huge flame war. Whatever you decide, just do it. In the meantime, there's no way everyone will agree with one another over this so, I'm closing it.
