Browsing my LFS, I started talking to the owner about my recent Hystrix ray additions. I told him my price I paid, and his jaw almost hit the floor, saying I got ripped off. Then he tells me that he has hystrix for sale a few feet away. I walk over to the tank with him, and there are 2 rays titled "Yellow Hystrix" for 75$ a piece. They look IDENTICAL to this photo except healthy, however I borrowed this photo from "BBenjamin21"

Any ray experts out there have the ability to ID what species this is??

Thanks ahead of time.

I have seen orbignyi sold as "yellow hystrix".

Dunno why this needs a separate thread - it's not even a different picture.

You already have Hystrix, you know what they look like, you know that's not a Hystrix. Orb most likely.

wow didnt mean to piss anyone off... jeez

No kidding its the same picture.. i stated that in the post... I dont have a picture of the rays at my LFS, cuz i didnt take any. So i politely asked to borrow BBenjamin21's.

I actually do have and know what hystrix look like.. correct. however i dont know what that has to do with this thread?? I know these are not hystrix, So i made a thread to find the correct species, cuz I didnt know what my LFS was selling FOR SURE. It would be nice to tell the owner what he has, so he can properly inform customers. Sorry I tried and learn and help..

In the future to Everyone, when my threads or posts annoy u, just look past them.. Im not that significant...

I know, that picture looks like this ray was in Auschwitz in the early 40's. Its very very sad. Hopefully someone liberated it from the LFS it was being ignored at.

Ill try and get a pic of the ray in question today from my LFS, so I can remove this photo, that leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth.

Yup, ppl on here can be rude, and seems some of them enjoy 'talking down' to ppl. Others it seems, like to see if they can start an argument over nothing. It is odd however, that when we try to learn new things......some MFK ppl tell us in a way that makes us feel kinda dumb for asking questions. Asking questions, I always thought, was suppose to be a good thing. I don't keep Rays, or ever intend to. But looked at this thread 'cause I wanted to learn some thing new, and I did! :D Just remember, there are more wonderful ppl here, than there are grumpy ones!

Rude? As compared to posting up the same picture that's been discussed already for 4 pages in another thread that's still active? Where people have said it looks like it's an Orb? Why would people come to this thread and express a different opinion to the one they've already expressed?

Asking questions is one thing but what value did another identical thread add, exactly?
