lol i once went to an lfs and they had a gator gar which is rare here in aus and i asked to see how big a tank should be for it to live for the rest of its left and they said a 6x2x2 should be more than enough...lol i was laughing for the rest of the day 
In the LFS I used to work at, some lady bought a Bicolor Angelfish and an Ocellaris Clownfish from the area marked 'MARINE', and called the store a while later, complaining that they died after 15 minutes of being in her tropical tank with tetras etc. At the LFS I work at now, we used to have a large Adonis Pleco in the display, and customers would constantly ask how we managed to make that Peppermint Bristlenose grow so large. 
i guess its not a stoey rather than someones ignorance, but in my lfs there is a sign sayin tropical to the left when to the left is a play area for annoying children, it also says MARINE in bold letters when there hasn't been a marine section for years
i got a syno catfish and it was named under a picuts catfish 
and they are getting sick of the alligotar gar there and are know selling him for £15 ! i think i might get him

were can you get gars in the uk, i realy want to know these things, i dont know why since my mum wont let me set up even the smallest tank
