i went to my lfs today and came across some great fish, a couple rtc's for only 8 dollars, a couple of striped rapheals for 7 and a bgk for 20.
they also have an elephant nose and dragon fish and a couple rope fish, usually they don't have anything good but lately they've had a pretty good selection. even saw some electric blue rams.

LOL an RTC for 8 bucks... I paid $40.00 for mine, and a few thousand and 40 dollars later, he's over two feet and still growing in the pond we built just for him. Kinda like selling someone a Clydesdale or a Nurse Shark for two dollars. I hope you're ready. :D

haha i didn't pick him up, the store offers a great selection however they really are just ignorant greedy bastards. if you ask the owner or any of the clerks how big something gets, the usual and only response is eh about this big. usually signalling about 6-7 inches.

Oh thank God I thought you meant that you BOUGHT the two RTCs. I think they're great fish, don't get me wrong, it's just that so many people buy them without knowing. lI hate the way that a lot of LFS workers refuse to tell the truth when it comes to fish sizes. We complained about the number of RTCs our LFS gets in weekly, and the owner said, "Yeah, but they sure do sell!" What an idiot. Why doesn't he just stick to selling his overpriced mutts (800 bucks for a maltipoo or whatever -- that's a mutt) and leave the poor fish alone. Grrr sorry for the rant.

^ I agree, Its sad to see how many fish are left mistreated. I sometimes feel that you should require a permit to care for fish which would require passing a test on basic fish info etc. But, that would cause a lost of interest in fishkeeping resulting in closing of a lot fish stores and raises prices in supplies and fish stock.

do you know jamestown NY? i've never heard of queens village so i doubt your close.
i wanna buy all of them but i know i can't house them properly any time soon. i'd love a bgk and rtc.
