I just bought one, it is in a 55 gallon tank. I cant find any info online about it except the website i ordered it from... anyone have one or know anything? It eats blood worms and seems to act like any other eel. I just wanted to know here its from, the size it can reach and ect.. Just took this pic, best i could get.

Need a Latin name man... Trade names are just made up nonsense most of the time and can refer to a few different fish or something a seller just made up to make a fish sound good on a buyers sheet.

Oh get those eels on some sand. Gravel is horrible for eels... They can scrape themselves (they are scaleless) and get bacterial or fungal infections.

Cool eels. I have a similar one in my 110g, but I do not know much about him. Sorry I could not be of help.

Think its called Aethiomastacembelis liberiensis

Can you get any more pics?? Well, atleast ''better'' pics?

that is the website i got it from, and the only site with a picture and the latin name. I'm on a mission to try and find someone with an adult. and yes i can try and get better pictures but my eel isnt a trained model yet. And i didnt knoweels didnt like gravel... my plan was to put him in a 150 with larger smooth rocks but he came too little... would large smooth rocks be ok? or no just sand?

Smooth rocks would be ok on top of or mixed with sand. Most eels like to dig, and some even like to bury themselves, which is where the sand comes in. With gravel they will just cut themselves up trying to dig, stress out because they can't, and can potentially die from it.

that is one EEL, not EELS, its called a reflection HELLER!

yes... i only said i had 1 eel. and thats good to know, my boyfriend had a full sized tire track eel (he passed away :( ) and a full sized fire eel. The fire eel is still alive in a 400 gallon and likes in a 4 inch wide pvc pipe. He is very happy, i never thought to give them sand... although now im thinking of switching this 55 into all sand. thank you
