Hey guys, I saw a pair of Lichnochromis acuticeps on the forum for $150. I had some questions. Are they easy to breed? Are they like any other Cichlid? Can I keep them in a 55 g? And how easy can I sell fry?

These would be a great project, because they aren't commonly available, but as james99 said, a 55 is quite small, and unless its one of those overcrowded African tanks, having just a pair, death of the female might be likely.
I'd consider a 6ft tank minimal, then removing all over cichlids at the indication spawning time, and then removal of the male, after spawning allowing the female to carry eggs and fry undisturbed.
A friend kept a pair in a 300 gal rubbermaid with other Africans successfully.

Ok. Was just wondering. Baileybass Baileybass is selling a pair, and was just wondering. I guess google is wrong!
I checked the Cichlid Room Companion to see if their recommendations for tank size, echoed mine.
I realize that some aquarists are more liberal about putting large fish in small tanks than I am.
They suggest "minimum" 130 gallon tank to be comfortable.

They are currently in a 65 gallon by themselves . But they will need a bigger tank once they get bigger . A 100 gallon would be perfect when they get 8 to 10”

Yeah. Sorry bro, but my limit right now is 55. GLWS, tho. I realized what I did. I previously looked at a different malyan cichlid, and I pressed enter when I put in malayan gar cichlid, but I accidently spelled gar like fat (no joke). I was looking at a different malayan cichlid lol.
