My JDs(5x3-5inches) recently died a couple days back of ick.
My heater had died but only fell down 3-4 degrees F.
The JDs were actually in another tank with an oscar, c. lepidota, and blood parrot(was a gift), before i placed them into their own hospital tank with ick remover. Unfortunately, the day after, only 2 out of 5 were alive. While all this was happening the blood parrot started some off behavior(upside down.. on his/her/it side and just sitting there) and my pike was busy trying to rub off the ick on the rocks. Sadly, the lepidota was found stiff behind some rocks a day later.
So all there was left was an oscar, the creepy-on-its-side-prolly-swimbladder-malfunctioning blood parrot and two jds.
Hours later, I found one jd to be dead and stiff lying on its side. I even poked it a couple times and checked if it was still breathin-nothing. I disposed that fish in with the rest of my victims-
This morning i woke up to what seemed to be the final blow to the jds- the last jd was on its side stiff like the rest.
By this time, I was a lil pissed off at the lack of success and the growing kill rate- I left dead fish to be disposed of later.
(sorry for being long- almost done)
At 4:30 this afternoon i took of the top of the tank where the jd was and peered in and saw the lifeless jd. I was distracted for a moment until i heard a splash and saw movement in the tank.
Now I was raised on some religious and miracle wish wash.. but now a fish just- woke up from the dead?
Am i crazy.. i dunno.. but pretty weird man.
I actually turned off the filter for the tank earlier this morning after i saw the "dead" jd. weird
