My JDs(5x3-5inches) recently died a couple days back of ick.
My heater had died but only fell down 3-4 degrees F.
The JDs were actually in another tank with an oscar, c. lepidota, and blood parrot(was a gift), before i placed them into their own hospital tank with ick remover. Unfortunately, the day after, only 2 out of 5 were alive. While all this was happening the blood parrot started some off behavior(upside down.. on his/her/it side and just sitting there) and my pike was busy trying to rub off the ick on the rocks. Sadly, the lepidota was found stiff behind some rocks a day later.
So all there was left was an oscar, the creepy-on-its-side-prolly-swimbladder-malfunctioning blood parrot and two jds.
Hours later, I found one jd to be dead and stiff lying on its side. I even poked it a couple times and checked if it was still breathin-nothing. I disposed that fish in with the rest of my victims-:(
This morning i woke up to what seemed to be the final blow to the jds- the last jd was on its side stiff like the rest.
By this time, I was a lil pissed off at the lack of success and the growing kill rate- I left dead fish to be disposed of later.
(sorry for being long- almost done)
At 4:30 this afternoon i took of the top of the tank where the jd was and peered in and saw the lifeless jd. I was distracted for a moment until i heard a splash and saw movement in the tank.:WHOA: Now I was raised on some religious and miracle wish wash.. but now a fish just- woke up from the dead?
Am i crazy.. i dunno.. but pretty weird man.
I actually turned off the filter for the tank earlier this morning after i saw the "dead" jd. weird

Are you sure you didn't over medicate? I've never seen a fish die so quickly after showing signs of ick. You know you can cure ick without medication? Turn your temp up to 87F, add 1 tbs salt per 5 gallons and make sure there's plenty of aeration....add an extra powerhead if you have to.

The original tank i did 15-20% water change, new heater no meds- only oscar survived. bparrot is just breathin side ways.
I was actually away for a day before i saw their the ick. several jds had like slimey cottonlike at times around eye and gills.
I've had the oscar go through ick several times-by now ick usually is gone within a day or so.
The pike was a surprise
here are some past pics. lepidota was only 6-7 inches here. oscar was bout 9-10 inches. hes gotten a little longer but leaner with pellets instead of feeders. never had the chance to photo the juve jds tho.
