pan world pumps.. thats what im gettin once uncle sam mails the check!

ive heard nothing but good things...petco all over the us use these pumps for their tanks...

but between the 2 id go little giant. thats what ive used for the last 14 years...

lifegard is good but best submersed..lots if vibration when ran inline.

I have a Little Giant 3-MDQX-SC for about 5 years now. The only issue I am having now is when I loose power the propeller will not start back up due to the back flow of water to the pump. It consumes about 100 watt per hour. The pump is noisy. If I pick up another pump. It would be a submersible Mag Drive pump. They are quiet and the heat it gives off can assist in heating my tank.

is there any way to quiet either pump when in line? also the bottom of my stand is carpet not wood

Sorry, have to laugh a little. You're using Petco as a measuring stick for the quality of a pump? Spending money on a Pan World pump is ok, I guess. It's the old Iwaki team, so that's cool. But my problems with them are that they are low power, high power consumption, no thanks. I prefer Reeflo, personally. There are several models that are incredibly low power consumption (compared to similarly sized pumps).
For instance a Pan World 1900gph uses 375w.

A Reeflo Hammerhead pumps 5600gph for 275w.

In other words, there are a lot better pumps for similar money.

Yes, adding sections of flexible tubing will reduce the chatter produced with hard line pvc. Also, adding a little foam under the pump/sump will also help with this. I use the interlocking foam squares commonly sold as anti fatigue mat. It works wonders.
