Hello All, Thinking about setting up a LG Fluidized sand filter for biological filtration on my 300 gallon tank. I need to know the pro's vs con's ... From everything I've read it would do everything that a sump would do. I was looking at the FB 600 which is said to handle upto 600 gallon tank double my size. Thanks :nilly:

I currently have one on my 90gal and its great the only bad thing I can say about it is you have to adjust your flow rate really slow so it doesn't spit out sand

FBF's are really great bio filters, but the flow has to be perfect to maximize effect. If the filter isn't configured properly, it sucks.

btw there it an adjustment knob on the top on them that make the water flow adjustment really easy

Yeah, great filter. Don't forget that you still need mechanical. Also I would go with the 900 unless there is so size issue. According to the manual, you can have more flow through it and the extra media can't hurt.

FB300 here ...Just read the instructions thouroughly. It must be set precisely and put it where you can see it easily. I found the water level dropping affects its flow rate as the pump feeding it will work differently as water level changes. Very efficient tho.:)
