I wanted to let everyone know that I have installed a new Fluidized Bed Filter on my 240 gallon mixed amazon predator tank. I already have two AC 110's on it for mechanical and biological, and the addition of this filter with a biological capacity of 900 gallons for $120 bucks with pump was a great idea. The tank is set up for rays, arows, and other big s.a. predators, which will be added soon. To test the filtration I added 2 dozen big messy cichlids and have been feeding them as much as they will eat 3 times a day. The bioload is well above what I would expect once I trade them out for the fish that are actually going in the tank, and the filtration has been perfect.

You obviously need another filter for mechanical filtration, but as a pure biological this unit works wonders.

I had a FB900 on my last tank and liked it alot, I just bought a FB300 for my new tank.. Had to go with the small one due to size restriction of the inside of my stand.

It's one of the best bio filters there is. Depending on the flow rate, it can even lower nitrates. But be warned. I HIGHLY recommend getting a back up power system for the pump, or you may potentially nuke your tank if theres a power outage, or it may just clog up from backing up, or sand may flow out if left unregulated ( which is a pain to clean if you have substrates)
