is there a reason why my motoro is constantly lifting her nose. like as if se was breathing. just up and down up and down in a smooth motion?
she swims arround really active. but when she stays still its just the up and down up and down all day.
i dont think its the water because my male doesnt do that.

a lot of tank mates and she is fairly new. imma just do a water change. i think i put too much salt. wish me luck or FlkajdslfkjasKKKK

Mine does this and I believe this is normal behavior. If they aren't acting strange besides the nose lifting thing, than you shouldn't worry about adding salt etc....

I believe they do this to sense if their is anything around them, for example food. I also observed and noticed this behavior more often they are constantly moving around and digging up the sand for food.

why is there salt in your tank?

I had a male retic that did the exact same thing from the time i put him in the tank until he died!! Some told me it was normal, some told me it was irritation from the substrate, who knows... Keep an eye on it, I dont know if it contributes to death, but mine always did it and ended up dead...just my 2 pennies.

I've seen this behavior, too. My Potamotrygon scobina do this, without fail, every time that they eat. They will gorge themselves, glide around the tank for a while, and then chill and lift the front of their discs for about 5-10 minutes.

Best of luck. :)
