i use a shop light on my 150 and its kinda to bright i was wonder if a plug in dimmer switch works for flouresent lights or is there a special kind

Standard fluoresent ballast are not dimmable. You would have to buy dimming ballast, very pricey.

i was looking through some old post and i found some ppl using card board and tape so im gana have some fun and see how it comes out

Use tin foil, it won't catch fire.

I used to put strips of black electrical tape (the good stuff) on the bulb to caast shadows or dim the output. If you have a reflector try darkening it.

What size/wattage are the bulbs? They make energy saving bulbs that are less than the standard wattage of the same length bulb. 25w for a 4' bulb instead of 40w for example.
