Anyone out there recommend any light timers? Specifically ones that would turn on at a certain hour in the day, then turn off at another hour in the day. Just looking for an easier way to have consistent light usage.

Any simple timer (like the ones you would use for holiday lights) can work. Otherwise, nicrew makes a timer that works on both channels and can do a sunrise/sunset.

I'd recommend a product outside the realm of traditional timers. Consider a smart plug as made by Kasa or others. You plug it into your receptacle and plug whatever product into it you'd like. Then give it wifi access to your network and d/l the Kasa app to your phone.

It will allow you to schedule your light or anything else within a roughly 1500W load to cycle on and off as many times as you like in a single day and for something like a buck more you can get a version of that plug that monitors kWh consumed. I use them and I highly recommend same.

I go the other way and prefer a simple mechanical timer that has little plastic lugs you need to push in or pull out. It's not very accurate if you want to set exact times but extremely reliable.

Something like this - $3 each

ditto - been using same for as far back as I can remember.

I also have a residential LED night light plugged in one corner of the room that throws a dim light across the fish room all night, so there is never a complete black out condition. IMO it helps reduce fish from getting spooked in the middle of the night.
