Any suggestions for a light system for a 75g? The one the tank came with isn’t the best and I’ve been wanting a new one for a while now.

Are you trying to grow plants or just have some basic lighting?
I like the fluval aquasky for all the bells and whistles, but the nicrews are great budget lights.

It’s for my flowerhorn tank, doing a water change today I decided to finally fix my lights in the tank and thought it looked best with the lights ontop of the glass lid with each bar on either glass panel, I’m wanting something like this but I want the light to either stick to the glass or something like that image.jpg

I have no idea if they sell them separately, but my marineland 75 has a light that clips on the inside of the rim - completely hidden and lights up the tank well. Might be worth looking into.

That’s the kind that came with my tank but the issue with them is that I have 2 large filters that get in the way and today I realized one of the lights was underneath my filter and had caused a massive inch thick layer of algae to build up. That’s why I’m wanting one that overhead and not really a clip on.

Could you try clipping it to the other side of the tank?
Overhead I’d go for the nicrew - you can get 2 small ones or 1 big one (1 big is probably cheaper).

I could probably clip it to the other side but I’d have to run the cord of the light inside of the tank under the lid and I don’t want to risk that wire dropping into the water a little bit and the flowerhorn chewing and dragging that into the tank. (Wire would have to run inside of the tank because there’s no notch for the wire to fit long term on the front side of the rim)

Before I moved the lights today, one bar was actually under the AC110 which I wasn’t aware of and the other bar I had clipped to the middle part of the rim that supports the lid so the lighting wasn’t really that good but since I’ve moved it overtop, the colors on my flowerhorn seem to have gotten more vibrant, the red on him is definitely a lot deeper than it was before.

The Marineland LED light sticks are designed to clip on the front (not the rear where HOB filters are located) of the tank. They will not "droop" if you space the 2 sticks properly. There should also be 2-3 clips to help you route the wires after you mount the 2 light sticks. The wire portion between the 2 sticks is routed UNDER the center brace. Hope this helps.

I’ve had the tank over a year now and when I bought it it only came with 1 clip for each light bar and a tiny clip between the two bars, not sure how I could route the wire to go along the frontside without risking the cord dangling down enough for the flowerhorn to get a hold of because I know if he has the opportunity to then he will
