Light base Boes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow. Stunning, new one to pair with your other? Congrats

Nice! That's how my female is. My male started very light based but is quickly turning darker with his newest morph. I have only ever seen one lighter based adult in captivity and that one is in Sweden, all the rest are dark. I'm wondering if being raised from pup size to adult in prime conditions will increase the odds of staying light or if they will all turn dark with age. Time will tell.

ouch... some pain in my heart coz it's not mine... what a superb looking ray

Nice Ray Jim! Boesemani rays seem to change colors/shade whenever they feel like it... lighting, sand color, tile color and tank mates will get them to 'change' appearance. They seem to look the best when the Boes are in lighter substrate and darker colored background tanks. Just my 2 cents.

will be a stunning one.. im under the impression that acquiring this species as a pup and keeping them on a light substrate will heighten the chances of a more visually pleasing specimen. my personal viewpoint of the development and "i may be wrong" is that the ones that develop their pronounced pattern the slowest and remain lighter for longer are the ones that will have the larger spots and more advanced level of marbling. again i may be wrong. my male darkened up pretty quick while my female is still transitioning slowly into something awesome! i hope at least....
