So after being on this forum for only a short time, the one thing I haven't really heard discussed was light cycles? How much time with lights on/off. This may be a slightly ignorant post, but is there some kind of guide where I can find the proper light cycle for different kinds of fish? Or should you just mimic they're natural environments sun cycle?

I think if you have a fish only tank, then most people will say its up to you how long or even when you turn your lights on or off... some people here just turn them on when they get home, others keep it on for "X" amount of time each day...

Those with planted tanks, tend to base it on their plants needs... for example, if you have anubias only, then you don't need much light and can get away with say a 6 hour light period each day, where as if you have high light requirement plants, you may have them on for up to 14 hours a day...

But i think over all, it really does come down to your tank and its needs... coz depending on the amount of lighting you have, whats inside the tank, and how big the tank is all plays a part in how much light you may or may not need...
