today i recieved 2 8ft light strips that hold 6 4ft bulbs each. the sticker on em says 32w t8 max, ok i get that, but can i use t5 bulbs instead if the wattage is the same?

Is there any information on the balasts? Most the newer electronic ballasts will run either.

interesting thing is the ballasts say they will run 4 bulbs, but there are 6 bulbs per fixture and only one ballast. there are massive wires running out the ends of the fixtures though, think they were linked together. these fixtures came out of a warehouse but im thinking if i use 1 ballast for 3 bulbs each i can get one full 8' fixture going.

The connectors at the end of the T5 bulbs are closer together than T8 or T12 bulbs, the fixture will need new end cap things (the part where the bulb attaches to the fixture) and I thought T5s needed a special ballast, but I'm not sure.

And as far as I know 4 foot T5 bulbs don't come in 32 watts, they are 54 for T5HO and 28W for normal output T5.
