i have a brackish tank with a huge mangrove in it but my light bulb went out it was a plant bulb would i have luck with just a bright light or would it be better to get another plant bulb?i also have java fern in the tank

In my experience mangroves do alright with just moderate light. It would probably be good enough to hang up a fixture with one of those spiral compact fluorescent bulbs.

You dont need to spend much on specialty bullbs. Just get compact fluorescent bulbs that are 6500K. That will give you the most growth for your buck. I use them in cheapo clip lights on my salt system to grow macro algae. I get uncontrollable growth. You can pick those bulbs at home depot or on line here:
