Last poll of the build.

Cant decide on the lighting for my tank. Cold cathode for the main lighting has been put on the wayside. I will use them in my 20 gallon project to remove the old fixture in there.

Here are my two ideas.

First is T5 lights that I found at Frys for 19.99 each. they are single tube fixtures 24" long. Figure I need 4 since I am not planting.

Second is track lighting with mini spots. The lid is going to be either acrylic or glass so not a problem there. To keep it cool and save money I will replace bulbs with LED bulbs 1 each paycheck being that they are $40 each.

Both ideas will use the Blue Cold Cathode lights for moonlighting.

Let the voting begin, I cant decide.

Thanks..

I haven't gotten around to posting pics yet, but I got led spots from a place in Hong kong. The 1st time I ordered them, I didn't know they were in hong kong, untill the shipping order showed up. Anyways, I got 12v 4W, 4 LED bulbs for less than 10 bucks each. The light looks awesome, much nicer than flourescent light.

My tank 7'2'2' is using the lights out of my 55 gallon just two 24" t8 hood lights. I was really worried about the lighting but it actually works great. I have half of the tanks top covered in plans and you cant even tell its still bright enough to see the micro particles in the water after feeding.

Were the one you found at Frys like these from Current USA? I used two of these on my 150 and it's plenty bright enough. I would recommend these to anyone with acrylic tanks that come with the light housing box as cover. I got the $30 LED kit from Home Depot as a night light. It's not bright enough but will work for the night light effect.

I ended up getting 6 13" fixtures from Home Depot. (Hampton Bay) 3 light my tank really well, but I will use 4 and put the other 2 in my 20 gallons hood.
