Okay guys, my 125 gallon wet/dry tank is almost ready to be up and running. It will be housing 1 archer, 5 mono's, 1 scat, 1 columbian shark, and 1 figure eight puffer.

Initially, it will be set up full-fresh, since thats what these fish are living in at the moment, and gradually over the course of the year, it will be turned salt (as close to the highest salinity the archer will be able to withstand)

Heres my question. I want a real nice light to brighten this whole thing up. Im not planning on keeping corals or anything down the road, or probably even plants for that matter, but if I ever changed my mind about that, how is the light I liked above? Is the price good? Do you think it will satisfy my current needs, is it overkill? etc. etc. etc.

Please leave me feedback, as this is a big purchase for me!

i think that the light u want is overkill for a simple tank it is very cool i like it alot but i think it is for corals and plants 4x 96 watts is a ton of lumina u would be cleaning algae for the rest of your life. i use a phillips full spectrum flouresent tube 28 watts on my cichlids it is very bright u can get it at home depot 10$ a tube for a 4 foot and 5$ for a 2' tube .i am not a lighting expert but i have seen light like that used on very expensive coral cloneing set ups.lol

Im not trying to put a $10 light on my nice new expensive tank though haha I want something good. I just mainly wanted to know if this was a good light to showcase my fish and possibly keep some mangroves down the road, and if this is a good company and for a good price

what you want is way overkill, it you want to spend 550 on a fixture that you dont need then ok. You could get somthing for 50-100 on somthing that would suit your needs much better.

100 watts on that tank would grow algae like mad, the kind of watts you are talking about can make algae soup! Been there, and done that. If you are not lighting plants, you'll be better off with a couple of simple strip lights. You have been warned! :D

I don't think you'd be displeased with this light. I DO think that it's probably much more than your description of what you want. You might look into Coral Life fixtures. Multiple 4' fixtures, maybe 4, would look good on your tank. You might try just two at first. Play with the positioning by putting both on one side of the tank and slide them forward and back to achieve the effect you want, then duplicate it on the other side.

BTW, I wouldn't go more than .008 on the salt.

coralife make the best lights . tubes are up to you but a coralife will last a life time and look fantastic . if $ is not an option buy the stanless steal looking one about 189.00 for 4 footer thought comes with the lights . you will need two for a 125 g.

good luck buy coralife

These are pretty good lights! Built in moon lights atinics and day lights.. they are good for corals too if you ever go that route. Pending on the corals of course.

way too much for something u dont need. but heck if thats what u want.. then go get it. but dont go complaining how to get rid and clean the algaes in ur tank.
