I don't use my light much but have been turning it on lately and the switch is stuck. Anyone ever have this problem, it may be crudded from the water or something, anyway I can fiddle with it. I got it to turn on yesterday and it was giving me the same problem (turns off easy though) but I couldnt get it back on today. Try to help me out guys.

Hello; I have replaced light switches before. Finding a replacement that fits can be an issue on old equiupment, some of my stainless light hoods are nearly 40 years old. The old switch can be removed and replaced or a switch placed on the chord.
I do not like to do it this way but the light may work if you wire it without a switch and plug it into a timer.

I thought about the timer thing but its my hood and powers my filters and such, kinda be a hassle, I might have to though. Ill try tampering with it and switching it if I can.

Have you tried removing your fixture and giving it a light cleaning with something like vinegar? The switch its self may have a little build up.

electrical switches do fail. there is just a small pad that makes contact when the switch gets turned on, every time you turn this switch on, there is a small spark. over time this sparking will cause carbon to build up on the pad, and if long enough will start pitting away. also the switching action may break over time. its just a small hunk of plastic it wont last forever.

just get a switch rated for 120v inductive loads thats the same size or close to the same size. try an electronics store there isnt that many options when it comes to switches.
