Hy,
I wonder how is your light system, what kind of lamp, ect.
I've been using the same king of lightening for 15 years, and now I'm thinking in change to HQI. Does anybody use it? How do youset it up? What kind of lamp do you use? How much light do you use?
Thanks

Howdy,

I have great success with Coralife Aqualight Freshwater on my planted tank. 384 W/220 gal, but that's compact fluorescent (2x 36'' Aqualight Freshwater 2x96 W ea.). The light output is higher than what regular fluorescent lights emit. I chose these, since my tank is 29'' high. Below 20-25'' I'd go for regular fluorescent lighting. I think HQI etc. are useful for planted tanks higher than mine.

I have no algae and fish look very natural.

I have a 48" JBJ compact flourescent set up with two 55w actinic ble and two 55w 10,000K. Looks way better than my friends HO's. Also has seperate plugs for the blues and whites and two cooling fans. love it.

I like the coralife lights too, but its also fun to make your own:) get creative! :headbang2:
