Light Timers...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you are getting one for lighting purpose only, just go to a local harware store. They've got those. I use one for my largest tank and they work great. Cheaper too.

For my tanks I'm only running 10,000K and 6700K bulbs for plants. I just use one that I got at Home depot for $15. I have one on my wifes tank, and one on mine. it is a powerstrip that controls 4 plugs, plus has for always-on outlets. IMO coralife strips are awesome, but more useful for SW than FW.

Yes, if you get three timers... they're cheap!!! I use them, too.

I get the normal timers around here for about $5 each.
Go Walmart!

$15 will control 4 lights all for one set timing, plus is a surge protector. If you want 3 different timers, which that coralife doesn't do, it can only do 2 sets of 2. for 3 timers at HD it will run you about $15 for the normal ones. The coralife timer has 2 plugs set for day time timer, 2 for night time, and 4 plugs for constant-on. The coralife timers are nice, but they are way overpriced.

Another thing... At ace they sell an outdoor timer lightstrip during the winter months. These are water-resistant, and can control 4 or 8 plugs at a time I think.
