I have a 20g tank that I just starting giving plants a try in. Its low light, florecent, with about 1 watt/gallon. Java ferns and anubias nana seems to be doing good but I don't think the horwort I recently added was getting enough light so I moved a regular standup-light (60w) next to the tank. Its perfect height and angles so it lights the side and bottom of the tank (the side where hornwort is).
The tips of the hornwort have already turned bright green and look a lot better already, just 2 days later.
Is this an ok way to add light to the tank? And is it worth going to home depot and getting a plant-growing 60w bulb or 60w compact florecent bulb? And if so which?
