right now I have 2 of these bright effect light the lowes in a 75g that's 40lx22hx20d. I am looking into leds to replace these lights. here is a link to lowes website to show you the bulbs that I have. I found these led lights on eBay and I'm wondering if these light will be bright enough. I cant find the lumens in the light from lowes and the led lights on eBay says 12,000mcd for lumens and I'm not sure the the mcd means.

This is hard to say, they don't mention the lumens but I know from personal experience that the LED's will penetrate the water great and give great lamination. But there is a down side to a lot of the LED products, LED lighting acts a lot like laser beams in water. They will reach the bottom of the deepest tanks but you will see the individual lights from the fixture all the way to the bottom. I haven't tried these particular ones but I know you would get a more even light out of the florescent bulb. But if the price is right try the LED and if it doesn't work go with the one from lowes they should be around the same lumens I would suspect.

Blow up the pic on Lowe's website & you can kinda see it in the bottom left corner of the package. Its not very clear on my monitor, but I think the packaging says that 20w CFL puts out 1150 or 1250 Lumens. I use the 23w version & mine says 1600 Lumens.
