I want to buy a new lighting fixture and wanted to know whats the best light fixture for fresh water? I've been looking at the Aquaticlife Swing Arm or the Aquaticlife compact flourescent lighting system but im not sure if their for Reef Aquariums

Doesn't make much difference if you don't have live plants. The cheapest option is usually the best ... fluorescents generally. You don't need power compact if you have a freshwater tank without plants.

whats the difference between a T5 and a T8?

I want something that will help me show off my fish colors more and probably good enough for the little about of plants I will add in.

T5s are more powerful and a much thinner diameter tube. For example, 4 foot T5s are 54 watts and 4 foot T8s are 40.

I think power-glo and aqua-glo bulbs are nice, they come in T8 and T5.

Do you think this light would be ok for my tank?

Coralife/Oceanic makes a nice single or double Aqualight T5 fixture with nice bright bulbs, and they arent too expensive compared to other T5 fixtures out there. They run cooler then power compacts and don't require cooling fans like the one in the youtube video.

I have a single and a double on my 65 gallon, but I have live plants. Without live plants you could easily get by with a single one.
