is lighting neccesary for fish health, i have my tank next to the window and the fish can see and eat well but is it neccesary to put on the light every day also??

IMHO, natural light is the best. After all lights are just trying to duplicate it.
Fish in the wild aren't always in crystal clear well lighted water.
Varying the light should be fine.
I prefer to use my lights daily, usually too long. I like to see my fishes full colour.
