lighting for freshwater tanks??

Canada... i wish.
would regular florescent bulbs from home depot be ok for aquariums... right now i am using a bulb made from philips that i bought from home depot and it said it was made for aquariums but the light produced is really orange and is really ugly looking... need help someone
 
would it the light be the same as a 50/50 bulb from coralife? cause those are 34 dollars where i am and i need something that has is almost the same
 
how much and where do they sell em?

tank is 6 feet long and the bulb i am using right now is 34 inches i believe...
 
regular daylight fluorescent bulbs look awful. I like 18,000k bulbs, they look a lot nicer.
