I'm almost finished with the completion of the rebirth of my 75 gal. and looking to replace the lighting. I've been looking at the Marineland double bright led and their reef setups to replace my old flourescent lighting. At the most, I plan on having just a few plants so I think the reef may be overkill. My tank if 48" long and from the videos I've seen with similar setups, there are some pretty substantial dark spots on the ends of the tanks with the 36" to 48" Marineland led setups. I came across a video where a guy took two larger Marineland led setups and butted them together after modifying the legs of the lights and it looked outstanding. I'm thinking of doing this with two of the smaller Marineland 24" units to get almost complete coverage of my tank. Anybody had experience with these lighting units or seen this application with the modification before?

I had a Marineland 36" DoubleBright on my 75G and I didn't like it. Like you said the sides were too dark for my taste and I didn't like the 3 way switch either. I ended up selling it and picking up a pair of TMC AquaRay GroBeam's with the controller and I love them. Fantastic build quality, excellent LED's and the dimming sunrise/sunset feature on the controller is pretty sweet.

Rayne, I optimally would like to do something that can be controlled and timed to transition from day to night but these systems cost considerably more. Thats the main thing that has attracted me to the Marineland setups, their price point. Maybe I'll luck up on Craigslist or MFK marketplace.

I have there 24inch single bright and i love it> i use the lunar light for 1 hour after i turn off the main light then when i wake up i use the lunar for 30 mins befor the main.

Crash, what are the dimensions of your single bright without including the extending legs. My tank is 48" and want to know if two 24" will fit side by side. If the unit itself is exactly 24", may not work if the power cord sticks way out on the side.
