Errrrr! :irked: So I have my aquarium all set up and pretty and the light just blinks and does not stay on! I can wiggle it around in the fixture and get it to stay on but if I turn the hood off and then back on it just flashes again. It's a SeaClear Casco hood 24" 20 watt fixture and I bought a 17 watt Zoo Med Reef Sun bulb. Is it the bulb or fixture you think? Its like a friggin disco in my room. Thanks, can't find any info!

Change the fuse

I'm sorry I am not skilled at with electrical things, how do I do that?

On some fixtures, there's a small plug in capacitor.that sounds like your problem. If the fuse is bad it won't work at all.
Take the whole fixture into your lfs, they might have parts.
good luck

Most fixtures now have an electronic ballast, and no longer need the starters. The thing that the above two are talking about are starters, and will not affect the way the bulb runs, but if it is bad, the bulb itself will not fire, resulting in black. Generally a light will blink when the bulb itself is going bad.

Thanks! Hopefully its not the fixture cause its brand new.
