I got a used aquarium yesterday, and the light fixture isn't in great shape. It is a double fixture, and one side works fine. However, when I put the bulb on the other side, it is about half as bright. Do I need to get a new fixture? Or will one bulb be bright enough for my 75? thanks

also, what kind of flourescent bulbs enhance color the best? The main fish is a green terror. He looks great under an 18,000k light I have on my 29 gallon.

go to HD and get a 4' double tube light for 10 bucks... i always used 6700k bulbs on my fish and liked that look..

So theres no need to get one for an aquarium?

I am pretty sure that fish dont need a light. (I keep mine off at all times except for when I am feeding them but then I just turn on the light to look at my fish and see if they are sick or acting wierd, the light has helped me catch disease in my tank before any fish have died in the past)so I like to keep my light in good shape but it is kind of anoying when it brakes.

I need a light, even if the fish don't really care.

ive usd shop lights from HD many times sit them right on the glass tops.... so no there is no need to buy aquarium lights unless you need something more specific but they would work great for what you are looking for...
