Quick question for light experts
i bought a set of 48" Aqualight T-5 - Double Linear Strip from here

http://www.hellolights.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1321

they come with 2 28 watts bulbs. then i went out and bought a couple of t5 54 watts bulb seperatedly only to be told here that those wouldn't work on the fixture becuse they're HO (high output?). i got the fixture and put the 54 watts bulb in just to test and it came up , am i running it out of spec? is there any danger?

No way an expert, but I'd say if they work, there's no danger.

thats' exactly what i awnn nkow as i have noway of telling what ballast it is becuase it's inside the enclosure

I am no electrician but if the bulbs are drawing more power than the ballast is rated for is that not a potential to fry (ie burn out) the ballast and be a potentail fire hazard?

I'm also interested in this topic as I've seen a nice cheap dual t5 setup, and would like to stray away from spending extra on a t5-ho rig.
