it can be. what is the kelvin rating of the bulb? the range for saltwater is usually around 10,000 to 20,000 degrees Kelvin.
Overall that is a good score.
 
one thing you will need to consider is the large amount of heat it will produce and be transfered to the tank.
 
i'm not a big fan of metal halide, that almost looks like a halogen lamp........i prefer T-5 it still cuts right through the water and about a 1/4 of the heat......Kelvin rating is also very important. i know it's really easy to find the right K value for T-5's don't know about 150w MH though
