Would a 30 inch flourescant strip and 2 20 watt PC bulbs be enough lighting for a 75 gallon tank. I don't want to keep plants, I just want nice lights. If it isn't enough, would four twenty watts be enough. Right now I only have the flouresent strip on there. It gives some light, but I want some more.

Personally, I'd look at a single HO T5 fixture. The lighting suggested above will be pretty good, but 1 HO T5 will do much more IMO.

bump, come one guys, don't make me beg for posts :)

For a planted tank you will require minimum or 3 watts per gallon. Flourescents wont do the job, you need a 6500k. T5 HO would be an excellent choice.

Ok and I misread the thread. So, any light would be fine. What you have would be good enough, just change the flourescents if you dont like that look, I like an actinic and white light look even on a fresh water tank.

I run 2 36'' ocean sun 10 000 k on my african cichlid tank..........gives it a different look, and brings out certain colors!! At first i didnt like them but now they grew on me and i like the change!:)

I am going to get the Actinic bulb, I just love the look of it. Next time at work I will pic everything up.

Actinic = algea in f/w.............unless you have algea eater type fish.............just be aware.......unless you are going for the algea look (which could be pretty cool in itself)!:)

It's brackish and a have a Vortex XL, I just need diatom powder. Nitrates stay under 10 pmm. The Scat pics at algae :)

A little over kill for my catfish tank but i had the whole setup left over from my reef days.... 4- 6" VHO's.... 2-actinics 2- 50/50's and 3- 250 Metal Halides. The RTC's colors really glow !!!! I actually like the look the Metal Halides give just by themselves, Its a cool blue shimmering look.
