Hello MFK,

I have six light bulbs on a 75 gallon tank, 4 of which are daylight spectrum 6,500k bulbs. Those bulbs say they are F40T12/DX bulbs. These glow a white light. I got them at homedepot. The other 2 are Phillips plant and aquarium bulbs that are 2,400k, these glow a red, pink light. The bulb says F40T12 Plant and Aquarium. All together I have 240 watts of light. These are also from homedepot. I got these to try and grow plants without spending a fortune on light bulbs and fixtures.

In the Aquarium I have 2 20lbs of Seachem flourite, and a half bag of other gravel. The pH is at 7.6. The lights are on for 12 hours a day. In the tank I have some Anubias round leaf, and some sword plants. They seem to be doing great.

My questions are What are some aquaium plants I could grow in that tank. Hardy to moderate, I don't have how you say, A Green Thumb.
My Ideas now are some Anubias Coffefolia, Anubias Hastifolia, java fern, Water wisteria. What are some other plants that fit into what I describe, and that are faster growing?

is that too much light for those plants? I do not have a Co2 system, whould I need one. I would do weekly doses of Seachem flourish.

This is what the tank looks like now. I'm thinking about taking out some of the anubias plants I have now if I got others.

This website I would like to get plants from has the ones I want on sale.

OH, I forgot to mention the temp is around 81-82F.

Can I just let my imagination go wild with plant ideas??

Other plants I would like to grow are Balansea, Melon sword, and temple narrow leaf.
Would those be ok to grow in my tank??

I don't know all the requirements for ALL plants off the top of my head, but you could do some research on the plants to see if their requirements match your tank's parameters. That is what I usually do with new species.

Oh and IME, anything besides anubias probably needs CO2 supplementation. Plus it is a good idea if you want a planted tank.

Ok thank you. I'll look into getting a Co2 system. What are some plants that you grow with great atcheivement?

WOW! That's a lot of plants to choose from, thanks for the link!!!

I have a bunch of rotala indica, red ludwigia, lace java (windelov), some swords (amazon and melon), petitte nanas on my driftwood, Japanese Rush, and my personal favorite, a big honkin Madigascar Lace.

I just ordered some pink hippo grass, aponogeton ulvaceus, and some more melon swords. I am excited to see how they do !

I've got a 40 gal with ~2.9 wpg and pressurized CO2 with a reactor.

The switch to CO2 is WELL worth it, trust me. Even it is a DIY with a ladder diffuser, it makes a HUGE difference. Of course the most efficient way is to get a pressurized CO2 system with a reactor or ceramic diffuser, but that can be quite costly (still worth it IMO)...........

A little reading will get you brushed up to all the CO2 injection options. ;)
