I got a t5 fixture but it has no plug. What I got from the instructions I need to hook the power source up to this.

How can I add a plug to this? A link to what I need to buy will be appreciated too.

It came with a second orange piece. Can I run them as two diffrent plugs? If so how? Will I set it up the same way with the black and white wires just on two seperate power supplies?

The orange pieces are linear disconnects and plug together. Go th hd and ask for a 1/2" take all and a 14awg power cord or s/o cord and a plug. First pic just left of opening is a knockout, knock it out and install take all. Push cord through take all and splice color for color with green going to the fixture housing.

I hooked th plug to the cord and the cord the the fixture and it still doesn't work. While playing the wire I did get shocked so there is a current comming from the socket to the end of the cord.

It is a four bulb fixture. I only have two bulbs in could this be the problem?

Your linear disconnect pictured has to blacks and two whites one pair going to the pictured ballast and the other pair going back into the housing. Is there another ballast? Have you tried the lamps in every socket combination?

I am pretty sure everything came wired except the plug.

The set up

I put one end of the cord into the plug and the other into the orange cap.

I then snapped the two orange pieces togeather and plugged it in.

I tried a couple, but not every. Will it make a diffrence? Tomorow I am going to get two more bulbs. Does all the sockets have to be filled for it to work?

Sometimes it makes a difference, depends on the specific fixture and how they have it setup. You also should double check that th neutral is fully connected in the disconnect and plug, an open neutral will prevent the fixture from working even the your getting power from the hot.

One of my 4-bulb fixtures will only work if there's two bulbs in the two inner or outer sockets, so that might be your problem if you haven't tried every combination yet. If it doesn't work with all 4 bulbs then at least you'll know its something wrong with the wiring but it looks like you have everything hooked up right

the split orange disconnect plugs is only convenient if you need to work on the fixture constantly.. if you don't use it often just cut them off.. or other way is the other end of the plug to the power source side it has color coded for the wiring hook up.. black to black, white to white, then green to green to your household convenient outlets hook up.. i notices you're splicing with 12AWG wires which the orange plug needs 14AWG instead.. it's alot more convenient if you use 14awg solid wire to plug into that orange disconnect.. if you still wish to use the 12 wire then strip it few strands down to make it thinner.. you then twist them tightly to push back into the orange plugs.. hope everything works..

Thanks I brought it to a friend and he got it working for me. Never realized how much lighting changes the apperance of the tank.
