how can i tell if i got fluorescent light bulbs? these came with my 55gal tank from wal mart and its been years. all it says on the bulb is the date it was made and it says eclipse natural daylight.

if it is a tube which I am sure it is then it is a florescent bulb.

Incandescent bulbs are what are commonly used in houses, with the filaments inside. Fluorescent bulbs are tubes, generally white, and are often used in commercial fixtures.

incandescent have threads on the end. fluorescent are tubes generally with prongs on the end
