i am looking for a good kind of lighting. i want a blue tint to my water but not too dark of blue. whats the best kind of light should i use

you could try using two bulbs:

1 - 10,000 K bulb (bright white)

and

1- actinic bulb (blue)

put bluelights then....there are blue flourescnt lights available

take a look at the 18,000K power glo's. they are the best ive seen for bringing out all colors in fish and they have an awesome hue

agreed - Hagen powerglos are great bulbs. I use them in all my tanks that have standard flourescent lighting.

I got a set of marine glos and they truned the water blue. Kinda nice but I didn't use them long before I switched back

one 48" T5HO power glo bulb over my 210g

That is only one 48" bulb...not one 48" strip with 2 or more bulbs? That sucker is bright! I was thinking about T5 for my 240 (8x2x2) maybe four 4' bulbs...2 end to end on to the front and the same to the back. Would that be too much?
