Greetings to all,

I am but a lowly noob to fish keeping, having kept a FW planted tank for about a year and now I am looking to do marine.

My biggest set back would be the cost since I would like to atempt a begginer's reef making lighting a priority. Seeing the price of MH fixtures and bulbs, after extensive searching I found this site http://www.insidesun.com/b9083c74567d3ca89d41facefd23277d.dept which seems to have MH retrofit kit type setups quite cheap, is there any reason to not use something like this?

If it would work what considerations would I need to take into mind when building an enclosure for something like this?

I picked up cheap second MH from eBay, that were part of a shop fit-out, replace the bulbs and you're set. That said they look a bit ugly (hood can hie that) and there's no getting around the power bills from running them!

id say use a halide... they have great deals on ebay... just put the halides in a hood then put the retrofits around them
