I really need some in put I started with live plants [fresh water] and I bought a 40w T-8 bulb on a 90g tank. is that good enough or not? ty

Well it depends on the plants and how much light they need.....and how well the light penetrates the water, and any Co2 or using flourish excel, substrate.

they say low to mod. 2 are a java furn and 2 are jungle (vallisneria) all i have for the plants is the light . they r in gravel no co2. i was told that it will eat the stuff in the gravel

Yeah Java furns should be fine....maybe add some Seachem Flourish Excel every once in awhile.

I know the plants you have grow in low light conditions and I have had both of those plants myself (not a plant guy). I have had no problems keeping them alive with less light than you have and just the occasional adding of Flourish Excel. Java moss is another easy low light plant I have if you were to interested in a similar plant to add in the future.
