Hi everyone i have a 55 gallon with some live and base rock. Im hoping to start a reef at the end of the month so i was hoping on some suggestions on lighting. Hoping not to spend much more then $200 dollars.

thanks a lot, do some corals require different lights then others. I guess im gonna have to pick my corals then see the light i need. Could i add coral with a niger trigger hes the only fish in the tank so far
You can, but expect him to do some trimming on softies and LPS.
Softies will most likely be able to tolerate it, but LPS might not like it.
SPS should be fine.
Yes different corals have different requirements, I usually run lighting to keep anything, and then just adjust for different lighting needs by moving coral placement up or down in the tank.

I would hold off on corals for a bit, let your tank mature a bit. They really don't like unstable water conditions. And read TONS and TONS of articles, more than a month away. You are about to embark on a very expensive journy, especialy if you have to buy stuff twice.
+1...I have corals running in my "new" 125g, but I plan on finishing stocking and getting everything rock solid before I add any more.
