My light just died in my 45. It isnt a planted tank so im not to worried about it i will get a new light soon i was wondering if anyone had any particular brands they swear by or any brands they will never use again because of horror stories. Any help would be cool

Find yourself a HO T5 single linear fixture. These lights are very compact, put out a ton of light, and don't need fans. I have 1 30" HO T5 over my 55, and it is bright enough to light the entire tank very well.

I like the coral life t-5 fixtures cheap bright good for tanks that don't need the intensity

Ditto on the Coralife T5 Fixtures; got'em on all my tanks.

Fish are happy, plants are happy and my wallet is happy!
