Hi guys do alligator gar need light because every night I cover my tank with a large blanket because I have a enli bichir and senegalus so that they can eat because they are night predators or should I stop covering it with blanket? Or is it okay that I cover it with blanket and is very dark. Thankyou!!!

Because I've had my research and it says that Gars are attracted to light won't he get stressed that every night my tank is very dark
I think you are stressing the dark to much. As long as the room isn't super bright you should be fine. All my bichirs and ropefish eat with the lights on. Yours will eventually do so too. My catfish get the left overs after the lights go out. I haven't had a gar since I was a kid so not much on that.
