I am just starting into planting my tank. I have a 210 all-glass that I have Java fern, Java moss and Anubias attached to driftwood. I also purchased a zoo-med 4 foot t5ho set up with a 6500k and 10000k light. I run it for 5 (12-5) hours a day, then I have my marine land led's come on (5-10). I also built an algae scrubber in the sump lighting runs 18hrs a day. I dose with flourish excel once a week after wc. My problem is the Java fern leaves are covered in algae and they have not attached to the wood yet, its been since October. Also the moss will not attach either. The Anubias leaf tips are turning brown and getting algae on them to. Any help or ideas would be welcome.

i don't know if i can help couse i got same problem.lol.U didn't post wattage of the bulbs couse ferns and some anubias grow better shaded
If its newly set up its propably diatoms and they should go away, stocking tank with some faster growing plants may help.Heres graph that i found looking acros web.Anyway subscribed and waiting for more answers .

I am checking your graff with my plants now...on my anubia I do have some yellowing on the edge of a couple leaves but I also noticed two leave are curling, any Ideas?

I have no idea wait tor others to chime in. One more thing that algea scruber is it an uv light ? I read somwhere that its not good for planted tanks couse its like killing most of plant naturition

if you are having trouble with alge than maybe the alge is soaking up all the nutrientsfrom the plants. also with t5 lighting co2 maybe needed. this is to slow the alge growth and provide for the plants. also whats your subsTrate? are you using fert tabs?

oh yeah adding liquid supplements can only do so much... good substrate and lights and last but not least plant nutrition......

All plants are attached to driftwood, I have not used any root tabs. Substrata is estees permacolor quartz sand. Maybe the scrubber is getting all the nutrients not sure. A SAE would be lunch in this tank. Should I cut down lighting or stage it differently?

There is an imbalance in the tank, which is due to one nutrient being depleted. This is likely K, which adding co2, will only enable the algae to grow faster.
