Does anyone have this issue? Just got a glass lid and LED Aqeon light for my tank and I've had it up for about a week. I noticed today that my tank water was relatively warm and I am trying to keep it cool for a native tank I am setting up. I have seen that fans can help reduce this but are there any other suggestions out there? I possibly thought about raising the light instead of having it sit right above the glass lid. Any help would be appreciated.

It's possible that the addition of the glass canopies is trapping the existing heat in the water which is normal. I can't comment on whether the LED light is causing the problem.

I have used lighting grid (egg crate) cut to fit the opening in front of the hinged lid, propped open, to help cool the tank in the warmer months. It allows more heat to escape the tank and keeps the fish from jumping out.

I do like the ideaof the egg crate I actually almost made my lid out of it. I think I will actually go through with placing this in the front so I can leave the glass open to vent.

I highly doubt your leds are causing it. If you were running tons of t5 or MH lighting maybe but not LEDs. An inefficient pump will raise temps. As stated evaporation leads to cooling. A cheap way to reduce temps is with a fan aimed at the waters surface

Yeah I'm also looking into a fan don't know if or how my canister filter would emit this heat. I've had the tank running for like a week without a lid and it was ice cold but then after putting the lid on it's taken almost a week for it to warm up like this.

This a great idea. My tanks are hitting 85 right now. Where can I buy this stuff?

Also, I doubt it's the light. I'm sure it's the glass lid.

Yup, switched a 2 bulb T5 for Current USA Led, temp in the tank has gone down around 3 degrees.
