Hi guys, i recently bought 2 10 w bulbs from Walmart. The brand is lights of America and it is fluorescent white light. It seems to sufficiently light (brightness) my 10 gallon shrimp tan, but i am worried that it will noot be enough for the plants (dwarf hair grass, anubias, xmas moss wall(in progress), and some marimio moss balls). This is a shrimp only tank and is not that deep(i will provide dimensions later today). Please let me know your opinion on whether this light fixture i have (2 10 watt Lights of America fluorescent bulbs) is sufficient to grow a carpet on both the wall and on the bottom of the tank.

My substrate is just pool filter sand, and i am going to use excel and roots tabs to give nutrients. Please help.

I would say that the DHG is a bridge too far. The others might work. Could you give us some more info on the lights?

Sounds kinda like they are t10's or something like that.

One bulb provides natural 6500k daylight

I have a 10g set up with two bulbs similar to those. Substrate is pool filter sand and the tank inhabitants are cherry shrimp. I put some dwarf hairgrass in, and it's surviving, but it doesn't appear to be growing or sending out runners. Other plants are java fern, water sprite, and moneywort, and those are all doing pretty well.

those bulbs are fine on a 10g tank. I doubt you will grow hairgrass, but you could do something like dwarf sag. The moss and marimo balls will be fine.

What would u guys suggest i replace my bulb with? Thanks

I would say I have medium light on my tank...and I am running two 38w CFL clamp lamps on my 10g @ 6500k. Everything I was growing under 36w PC @ 6700k is still growing, but there was an adjustment period.

I think that before I had TOO much light. I had some DHG...and it sent out like three new blades over a week before I pulled it. I just dont have time to pamper it right now. Soon enough though.

Otherwise...my pc setup was cheap at www.aquatraders.com

any ideas on what the minimum amount of light (which light i should get) i need inorder for the dwarf hairgrass to grow and to spread out runners? Thanks
