So I know the general concensius is that you leave the lights off to calm fish down when introducing new tankmates or for whatever reasons. Well it seems to be the opposite for me and the "big kids". I have learned that leaving my lights on for a long time when there are new tankmates, seems to work out better, less violence and such. Anyone else agree, disagree, thoughts?

IME, it's best to have them off including the room lights once you've acclimated the fish. They go into night time mode and generally aren't as destructive.

I've always found that if I feed existing fish well before introducing new tanks mates they tend to be more docile as well.

With my type of monsters, it is always light ON for 24 hrs straight with new introductions..

Got fed up of fish killed in the dark.

i always introduce/reintroduce fish when i do a waterchange. it sorta confuses everyone and they dont pay attention to the new guy lol

im currently in the process of finding a 30 gallon hood with lights, so mine never has lights on and the fish are happy and healthy. id say its probably better with lights tho
