I recently bought a 10 gallon kit (tank with lights build into cover) from Petsmart that I am using to breed guppies. The two bulbs are pretty exposed to moisture. There are two guards that go somewhat over the bulbs, but they are still exposed. I have not put the bulbs in yet because I am worried it's unsafe. Condensation would get on them. Does anyone have this set? It would seem weird that a manufacturer would have such an obvious flaw in a product, so maybe it is safe to get condensation on the bulbs:confused:

Are these the 15watt incandescent light bulbs. They can get hot and if water splashes on them they will shatter. You can get replacement fluoresent lamps that will screw into the same socket. Pick them up at walmart for descent price, plus the light output is higher.

Not sure that you would get condensation because of the heat, but if you do, the glass won't shatter from it. It's the cooler water on the hot glass that will shatter the glass.

Incandesent bulbs run really hot. Use CF's or buy a flour. strip.
